DIY Simple Jute Knobs

I am really loving the Jute trend right now but everything seems to be so expensive or not readily available. I decided to try and replicate these on my own! I was able to achieve the above look out of old wooden knobs from previous projects, twine and glue! They were very easy to do and turned out great! These gave my piece a very Costal/ farmhouse-y look, which is exactly the look I wanted to achieve!

Check out the before!

I really dislike old wooden knobs, even painted they are a little too plain for me. I typically end up replacing them with cooler hardware but luckily, I keep these, just Incase! It’s so exciting being able to put a fresh spin on something old and not really in style right now. I was able to salvage old, these and update them into trendy jute knobs! Achieving this look was super simple! It cost about $8.00, a couple hours and a few fingers glued together. Here are the supplies you will need for this project.

1) This Twine is similar to what I used.

2) This Glue– it held up so well!

3) Wooden knobs– The size you need will depend on your project

Apply a small amount of glue to the middle of the knob.

Keeping the center tight, form a circular pattern with your twine. Once you have about three lines in your circle, apply the twine to the glue in the center of your knob. You will want to apply enough glue to adhere the twine to the knob, but not enough for the glue to saturate through the twine. This will give the twine an unpleasant, matted look.

Keep winding the twine and adding a little glue as you go. Allow the knobs to dry and apply as normal!

And there you have it! A cheap, easy craft to help spruce up your old, boring wooden knobs. If you try this, let me know how it goes!
