Serpentine Chest of Drawers

Serpentine chest of drawers

Is it Fall yet?! I am so ready for mild, not so humid weather. This piece is the perfect representation of one of my most favorite times of the year! This serpentine dresser would be the perfect fit in any room! It’s size is compact, however, offers a ton of storage. The lines are so unique, it’s definitely a conversation piece!

It was super dirty and had seen better days, however, it was still very solid and structurally sound.

To start, I cleaned the wood and spider webs off with TSP and lightly sanded with 150 grit sand paper. I knew I wanted to use Milk paint on this super old piece. Milk paint is a traditional style of paint that coats the wood much like a stain. It’s light in coverage and has a beautiful smooth finish that I really love! I figured the Rust-oleum brand Milk paint in Eclipse would be a good place to start. I am really happy with the quality of this paint. It’s been really humid and I’ve had issues with bonding, but this dried quickly and held up like a dream!

Once the paint dried, I lightly distressed the main lines of the dresser and put the hardware back on. I decided to replace the glass knobs with a smaller knobs with gold accents from Hobby Lobby. I then added a coat of wax to bring out the sanded wood and add light protection to the paint. Since this is a lighter paint, on an older, distressed piece, I like the idea of the paint distressing a little thought out the years.

To complete the look, I lighted the drawers with my favorite color, plaid. This is the perfect finishing touch! Comment below and tell me what you think!
