From discarded to chic, one Buffet’s astonishing Makeover
Nothing makes me happier than a beautiful buffet. Anytime I come across one of these bad boys, I HAVE to snag them up. The only problem is that they are getting so scarce these days. I knew I wanted to paint this one Navy!
This buffet was in pretty good condition! I love the details 😍
I painted this with three coats of Dixie Belle Bunker Hill which is my favorite shade of Navy! It’s bright but not too bright and not so dark that you confuse it with black or gray…it’s just undeniably Navy.
After the color dried completely, I applied two top coats of Clear Coat – Satin by Dixie Belle. One thing to note about this shade is that when it is scratched, the color changes. To help make this less noticeable, mix in a few drops of your paint into your top coat to tint it slightly. This will help with the color change.
I decided to upgrade the hardware with a combination of gold pulls on the door and glass knobs on the drawers from hobby lobby. I also sprayed the hinges gold to freshen them up a bit. I wanted the whole piece to feel brand new!
The inside of the drawers and cabinets needed help, bad! I searched high and low for the perfect drawer liners but nothing met my expectations! This needed more. I decided to paint the inside with my most popular finish! A faux wood look with a weathered feel. It was a ton of work and I regretted it at the time but it came out so well and inspired my client’s matching table.
Let me know what you think of this transformation and the inside of this buffet! ❤️
